Remember when going back to school meant investing in a few notebooks, a brand new box of crayons, and new shoes? If you wore a uniform to high school, you probably got among those too; if not, you still have a couple of new outfits. That’s it.

Well, times have changed. The availability list now contains items which used to be given by the faculties – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child uses a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders and a calculator. For those who have two children and you shop the sales, you may still end up spending over $100.00 in supplies alone. Knowning that doesn’t even count the modern clothes your child “has to have” or even the fees that are necessary for art projects, lab costs, etc.

Don’t even get me started on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your child needs for school. Will it ever end?

Here are some tips to save cash oil painting set in 2010.

1) Recycle – Determine whatever you currently have at home. You probably have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. lying around your house. Put these together in a pencil box and that should help save a couple of bucks.

2) Re-use – Kids believe last year’s backpack must go, however a quick trip over the washer may provide it new life.

3) Reduce – Does your child use a notebook from last year which has three pages of written material inside and 77 blank pages left? Would you find this notebook in the bin – or worse – the garbage? Now is fun to discuss waste and keeping it as small as possible by getting probably the most use possible of all the item.
