Paying tribute to Minerva’s extraordinary heritage, Montblanc takes a journey back to the
glory era of motor racing with five new TimeWalker timepieces that capture the beauty, spirit
and values of motorsport history. The rebirth of such professional watches showcases the
performance and innovation from the new Montblanc TimeWalker collection.
Inspired by performance
The Montblanc TimeWalker Collection symbolizes the spirit of racing and harks back to these
instruments of glory by giving a distinctive line of new professional watches for the modern performer
that placed their inspiration from Minerva’s outstanding history. The Minerva Manufacture was
called a unique workshop that produced high-quality instruments for measuring brief
intervals of time with remarkable precision. The renowned “Rally Timer”, a stopwatch that has been
designed to time motor racing with precision, is the ideal illustration of this heritage. Minerva
watches were the reference in horological innovation, with plenty of patents
registered over time within the domain of precision timers, creating a legacy of savoir-faire.
Legitimacy in history
Founded in 1858 in Villeret within the Saint-Imier Valley, Minerva is a leading specialist in
the fabrication of professional watches. From 1908, it had been already successfully pursuing new
technological challenges, for example the production of watches furnished with chronograph
functions and highly accurate stopwatches that measured short intervals of time. The
Manufacture developed stopwatches which could measure 1/5th of an second as soon as 1911,
rapidly increasing to 1/10th of an second. Within this innovative spirit, in 1916, the Minerva
Manufacture was the primary to produce a high-frequency movement which could measure
1/100th of an second, an enhancement that has been further technically improved in 1936, putting
Minerva in the spotlight as the specialist of professional luxury swiss watches and stopwatches.
The brand new Montblanc TimeWalker collection combines these legendary timing instruments from the
past using the spirit of motor racing, encapsulating the Minerva heritage, superb technology,
masculine energy, highest performance and the kind of the glory era of racing.
The final results are evocative, vintage-themed though contemporary, and made for modern
performers that like expressing their achievements, ambitions, masculinity, style and personality
in their range of wristwatch. Ideal for both business and leisure, the new Montblanc
TimeWalker timepieces command respect and admiration and underline the boldness of people
who wear them.
Performance
The brand new Montblanc TimeWalker collection represents a solid contemporary expression from the
professional sport chronograph which has a 43 mm case size that has become an ordinary size for
Montblanc’s performance timepieces. In the case for the dial, in the movement for the
complications, the product targets masculine energy along with a vintage-themed style, while
combining performance, innovation, great legibility and robustness. Emblematic combinations
of materials come up in each from the models, for example high-tech black ceramic, satinated
steel, titanium and rubber, highlighting the Maison’s creative spirit.
The aesthetic codes from the new Montblanc TimeWalker timepieces are directly rooted within the
world of racing: satinated cases and semi-skeletonized horns with architecturally carved flanks,
all inspired with the aerodynamic lines from the bodywork of classic cars. Iconic details include
knurled finishing around the flank from the emblematic black ceramic bezel, and also on the crowns
and pushers, which can be similar to vintage car caps; smoked glass case backs inspired with the
glass windows that reveal sporty V12 engines; and strap holes that pay tribute to vintage leather
racing gloves.
Clear legibility and visibility are achieved with strong contrasts of colour, three-dimensional
counters inspired by vintage dashboards, precise scales and dauphine-shaped hands with
SuperLuminova for top level readability and performance during the day and night. For utmost
precision, most of the TimeWalker timepieces feature popular central seconds hand coated in
red using the tip crafted the same shape as the Minerva arrow.
To guarantee the robustness of such a sporty professional manufacturer product line, each of the Montblanc
TimeWalker models undergo over 500 hours of controls, with specific testing and general
operating evaluation under two extremes. Also to ensure sporting performance regarding
waterproofness, each of the models are water-resistant to 100 metres.
