I’ve been working on a fresh creative project. Plenty of energy and enthusiasm being spent. A lot of productive time making something totally new. Bouncing my ideas from others in a coaching group. But each and every time I attempt a fresh journey of making, I have discovered myself becoming angry.
Each and every this happen? What is this anger about? The proceedings?
My mentor i were discussing this. She wondered aloud this thought: “It seems like the tender spots are where you are angry”… yeah. Very tender. The anger is saying something.
Finding that it is not easy to hold a project picking anger all around, I wanted to find a way to operate “through” or “around” the anger. So, I distract myself with painting, stories, dancing… something creative, but more mundane along with a bit mindless. This creative energy releases my head so that I will “trick” my anger into thinking I’m busy to things.
After i try this I refer to it as “spinning”. Spinning reminds me from the stories with the spinning wheel where I could get busy creating (much like the wool about the wheel). This paves the way to metaphor and takes me far from my have to “control” a project.
After i began drawing this picture… of the spinning wheel… I thought of “turning straw to gold”. I was reminded again of the story of Rumpelstilskin. You know, usually the one… the millers daughter, the dad says “she can spin straw into gold” on the king… as well as the king really wants to check out this… if she cannot, she is going to go to death… ? Then, an odd little man appears. He tells her the guy can spin straw into gold… but it’ll be at an amount to her.
I found the storyplot and focus several versions than it. It resonated when camping. However, as I usually do, Cleaning it once a to logically “organize” the tale. This caused me to be more frustrated, because i was not seeing or feeling what this story was wanting to inform me.
And so i went back to my “dream capture” work. I just read the tale as though it were a goal I’d had. Then, Used to do these:
Listed out all the characters
Listed your “key words” within the story that resonated beside me
Re-read each word and wrote what that word meat to me within my unique circumstances
Then… I started to notice what the story was saying. Here’s what I discovered
The little man (Rumplestilskin)=anger/creative fire/naming
The miller’s daughter=rest/creativity/giving
Spnning wheel=creating/spinning/asking for help
The baby=creation (project, artwork… )
While each one of these “characters” has an independent role, Every one of the characters create one “psyche” for me. Just about everyone has of the qualities within us.
To make something, it will require much energy… and a lot rest is also needed. We should give of ourselves and ask for help.
In the long run, your baby is born and we will not quit. It is our “creation” and we’re amazed at might know about have made. Also, the required steps to acquire there.
What did I learn?
That this story resonates with me. Also, this story will repeat itself over and over while i continue to create, rest, other people and handle a task. Despite the fact that Rumpelstilskin stomps himself in the ground following the tale, that little man will probably be back… and next time, I am going to know his name.
