Issues spent long at all on the net, you understand how useful reviews can be when researching products. But like much else about the ‘net, spam is becoming a major problem; many comments are superficial, vague, and yet suspiciously positive. It’s likely that, the writer is attempting to market you what they are reviewing with out really used the product or service. In spite of legitimate reviews, many surveys are short to get convincing. What is the answer? A bit of human judgment (yours!) with an efficient process that I am going to share below. Plus a site that does likewise, in the event that you’re too low on time to really research lots of products.

First, I’ll point out that I’m not really a large shopper myself; the home is not cluttered with stuff, I’d rather walk outdoors than wander around in malls, I toss out teleshopping catalogs, and bidding on eBay isn’t my idea of entertainment. However, finding top quality interests me: great books that stimulate your brain; movies that challenge convention; craftsman-like tools and machines; basically collect anything, it’s such items. Plus giving good gifts is important in my opinion; I like seeing friends use a gift for many years. So, on to the look for the best of the best…

Let’s assume we know the sort of thing we wish (e.g. a novel for us politics or even a new laptop), but unfortunately we cannot have in mind the exact item. (Since as we knew the exact item to obtain, we would just get it!)

Determine the product you are considering; think of the major (e.g. book, electronics, portable) and minor keywords (e.g biography, children, mp3)
If it is a well-recognized type or category (e.g. laptops) you’ll be able to just pop over to consumersearch.com and look their aggregated reviews; they certainly an excellent job of mixing many professional reviews into short summaries. I’ve no affiliation with these, BTW, I’ve just found their internet site useful.
Otherwise, go to Amazon.com – the earth’s biggest online retailer. Although you may don’t ultimately obtain Amazon, it does not take best position to begin – they’ve got more far better reviews than anywhere else online, this can longevity and volume. Also, they place more controls on their own reviews than elsewhere; you cannot just submit an overview for something, you must have purchased.
Key in keywords and phrases, and search. OR click Amazon’s department listing, and narrow-in about the category of interest: amazon.com/gp/site-directory/
Seeing your quest results and/or having clicked to some class of interest, keep limiting: either add more keywords, or, go through the subcategories for the left side of Amazon, under “Department” – the more specific you may be, the less reading you’ll need to do later.
Delighted by your quest results or category choice, next narrow this list using reviews. See what arises from your search or category listing; organize the final results by “Relevance” or “Bestselling” then look for items with no less than 4/5 star rating, and at least 10 reviews, preferably 20. Naturally, products with 4.5 or 5 stars and also over 50 or 100 reviews are definitely that need considering.
Select the well-reviewed items; browse the most helpful reviews, both positive and negative. Would be the reviews convincing? Are available a great deal of helpful votes per review? Usually the top half-dozen reviews will explain much of what you should know. Repeat for every item of curiosity. In case there are lots of items, repeat the step-above where you used more keywords or clicked on more specific categories.
With a few more keywords, and often clicking through to more specialized Amazon categories, you can usually have the ability to winnow down your initial listing of products to consider only a couple of well-reviewed items. You’ll be able to obtain it down to just 1-3 after reading reviews. At that point, you know you will be fairly positive that you’re you get one of the best products for the reason that category. This process works especially well for books, and specialized professional books too, where often, an assessment is constructed by someone with expertise in the appropriate field.
