There are so many different lotions and potions open to care for your hair and skin nowadays it is hard to select the right one. With a vacation into the local drugstore, you’ll be greeted by row after row of shelves brimming with various products, all promising to be effective wonders and build miracles. I do think really the only approach to finding out which merchandise is best for you is to experiment and try on your own. One among my favourites that I have been using for a time now’s argan oil.

Sometimes called ‘liquid gold’, it is just a natural product, obtained from the kernels from the argan tree which can be indigenous to Morocco. It’s even beginning to show up in mascara formulas because it’s claimed it may help to generate your lashes longer plus much more lustrous. My hair is very dry and possesses a wiry texture (it almost feels like fine fishing line) and the oil in it’s pure form aids you to add moisture and softness to my hair. If you are lucky enough to get have naturally soft hair, argan oil is a nice crowning glory to include extra gloss and shine.

Although finding shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products and skincare products containing argan oil is easy, due to oil’s rarity they are presented with a relatively high price. When i mentioned before, the oil is taken from the argan tree that’s found in southern Morocco. The original way of extracting the oil was to collect argan fruit, dry it, extract the nuts, crack them to reveal the kernels then to crush these phones release their oil. The procedure was done by hand and took fifteen hours of labour and thirty two kilograms of fruit to make just one litre of oil! Nowadays the kernels are mechanically cold pressed (heat damages the oil’s chemical properties). The tree is rare, extracting the oil is labour intensive… hence the high price. However, fortunately somewhat oil goes quite a distance.

The scarcity from the argan tree is the place the problem lies. There are many products on the market now that contain argan oil or are marketed as ‘argan oil’ or ‘Moroccan oil’. But if you examine the label, you will find often other ingredients (including silicon) in larger quantities compared to actual argan oil. Cosmetic companies must give your very best in order that the availability of argan oil is sustainable and of a superior quality, untainted by other oils or substances.

How do we know you will get genuine? If you are investing in a product containing argan oil – check the ingredients. Consider ‘argania spinosa kernel oil’, it should be high up the components list and ideally, the item should contain as few ingredients as possible. Greater ingredients which the oil is mixed with, the less powerful the oil will likely be. In case you are buying pure argan oil, ensure it is within a dark coloured bottle since the light passing via a clear bottle can stop working the oil’s chemical properties. Some products that are marketed as argan oil also include a carrier oil such as olive or sunflower oil. Be alert to the purchase price you are paying. Argan oil doesn’t always have to be very expensive but as well, this is a rare oil that is certainly labour intensive to produce and so isn’t usually sold in a ‘giveaway’ price. The top argan oil product might not be the more costly but don’t forget the saying, ‘you get everything you pay for’.
